The Gypsy Vanner Horse personifies the mystery and magic of the Romany Gypsies. Nomadic and colorful, Gypsies have traveled throughout Europe for centuries. Known for their trading carts, fortune-telling and horse sense, Gypsies bred a unique horse to pull their colorful caravans. Gypsy Vanner Horses are built like a light draft-type horse, combining Friesian, Shire, Clydesdale and Dales Pony bloodlines. They are often piebald or skewbald, with long flowing manes, tails and feathers that start well above the knee and hock on their legs. Standing about 14 to 15.2 hands, they are revered for their sweet temperaments and intelligence. The Gypsy King is a wonderful representative of the breed and the first foundation stallion to be imported to the United States.
